The overall goal of the project is to reduce the morbidity and mortality rates of common communicable diseases, control major epidemics, and reduce the disease burden for people in the Mekong sub-region, specifically. : (i) strengthening the capacity of the national anti-epidemic surveillance and response system; (ii) enhancing prevention and control of infectious diseases for at-risk populations and (iii) strengthening regional cooperation in infectious disease prevention and control.

To develop the National Standard for Preventive Medicine Center, Lao Cai actively advised the Department of Health to develop the National Standard Project on Preventive Medicine and submit it to the Provincial People's Committee for approval for implementation. With the support of the People's Committee of the province and the Department of Health in terms of infrastructure construction, the support of equipment and facilities is provided by central projects such as: Project to improve preventive medicine capacity ( ADB47), Project on avian influenza, human flu and pandemic prevention in Vietnam for the period 2011-2014 (VAHIP) ..., and received technical expertise from leading institutes Along with the efforts of the entire staff of the unit, the Preventive Medicine Center of Lao Cai province was recognized by the Ministry of Health to meet national standards in Decision No. 402 / QD-BYT dated February 3, 2015.
