On 19th August 2014, Emegency Operational Office (EOC), the General Department of Preventive Medicine, Ministry of Health notifies of two Nigerian passengers with fever entering Viet Nam through Tan Son Nhat airport. These two Nigerian passengers took the seats 25B and 26D on the flight No. QR964 of Quatar Airway from Quatar to Viet Nam, arrived at Tan Son Nhat airport on August 19th, 2014. They departured from Nigeria on August 18th, 2014. They have onset fever only.
On 19th August 2014, Emegency Operational Office (EOC), the General Department of Preventive Medicine, Ministry of Health notifies of two Nigerian passengers with fever entering Viet Nam through Tan Son Nhat airport. These two Nigerian passengers took the seats 25B and 26D on the flight No. QR964 of Quatar Airway from Quatar to Viet Nam, arrived at Tan Son Nhat airport on August 19th, 2014. They departured from Nigeria on August 18th, 2014. They have onset fever only.
In order to respond to these cases, under guidance of the Ministry of Health, the Pasteur Institute of Ho Chi Minh city and local health sector proceeded health examination and temporary isolation of the passengers. They have been referred to isolation area in Ho Chi Minh Tropical Diseases Hospital for health examination and continued monitoring as regulated.
Blood samples of these two passengers have been collected. General Department of Preventive Medicine, Pasteur Institute of Ho Chi Minh city in cooperation with the WHO country office and the US-CDC office in Vietnam will send these samples to laboratories of WHO collaborating centers for testing.
At the same time, the Ministry of Health has requested passengers who took the seats No. 24, 25, 26, 27 on the same flight No. QR964 to go to the nearest health care facility or to contact by the Phone No. 0989 671 115 for medical advices and guidances of preventive measures and self- monitoring of their healh status. List of these passengers will be sent to local health authorities for continued monitoring.
The Ministry of Health will continue monitoring health status of two sick passengers and timely updating situtation.
